Register with the UVic Center for Accessible Learning (CAL)
CAL allows students to access accommodations in classrooms, exams, and can connect you with accessible technology services. Go to the CAL Information Page or watch this helpful video to learn how to register!
UVic Learning Assistance Program (LAP)
At the LAP, you can be matched with learning strategists and tutors to help you get the most out of your courses. While the LAP’s services are not free, disabled students approved for BC student loans can apply for funding to cover the costs with Student Aid BC– contact your CAL advisor to learn more or visit the LAP CSG Funding page to learn more.

Academic Skills Centre and Academic Advising
New to university or looking to refresh your skills? Have questions about academic integrity? Look no further!The Academic Skills Centre helps to coach students in all topics from reading and writing in university to creating academic posters and e-portfolios. Working with an advisor or attending a workshop with the Academic Skills Centre is completely free, and you can book appointments online.

UVSS Advocacy Groups
The SSD is one of four UVSS constituency groups who work to advocate for the interests of the students they represent. Past advocacy work, each group offers social events and support for their members, as well as resources and volunteer opportunities.
The Gender Empowerment Center (GEM) is a drop-in space in the UVSS building filled with resources informed by intersectional feminism. Among the many supplies and resources the GEM offers are free menstrual and safer sex supplies. The GEM is a safe space for all students, with emphasis for students who are women, nonbinary, trans, and/or gender-nonconforming.
The Students of Colour Collective (SOCC) is an advocacy group for self-identified Black, Indigenous, and/or Persons of Colour. To find out more about their work, drop in to the SOCC office at SUB B120 & B122, or email socc@uvss.ca!
The Pride Collective (Pride) provides a gathering space, events, and programs for queer and trans+ students. Their space has a universal washroom, queer lending library, free binder program, and much more!
Native Students Union (NSU)
The Native Students Union (NSU) is located in the Student Union Building and is a space for self-identifying Indigenous students. The NSU creates a space for Indigenous students to find community and support.
