What Can I Do as a Volunteer?

There are many ways to get involved with SSD, and we welcome volunteers with a wide range of interests, skills, and availability. In the past, volunteers signed up for specific roles in advance. While this provided lots of choice, it also required significant coordination. To make volunteering more flexible and accessible, we are moving to a volunteer mailing list system. By joining the mailing list, you’ll receive monthly emails outlining upcoming volunteer opportunities and areas where support is needed. You can then respond to the opportunities that interest you and fit your schedule. This allows you to choose how and when you’d like to support SSD throughout the year.

Examples of Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer needs vary throughout the year and may include:

  • Event setup and takedown
  • Assisting during events
  • Tabling and community outreach
  • Creating or updating resources
  • Organizing the SSD lounge & office
  • Monitoring Zoom for online or hybrid events
  • Participating in our #Access4All campaign

Eligibility

Everyone is welcome to volunteer with the SSD community.
