WHEREAS the SSD strives to promote food security for our community, and thus the SSD has provided food security programming in past semesters; therefore,

BIRT the SSD approves the Spring 2024 Food Security Policy; and,

BIFRT the SSD approves up to $20,000 for the Spring 2024 Food Security Program budget.

MOTION CARRIES

  • 2023/12/06: 03 – Anika/Hannah

WHEREAS the SSD promotes the active inclusion and skill building of disabled students on and off campus; and,

WHEREAS the SSD has consulted with Dan Caron from the Health Food Bar; and,

WHEREAS students are enrolled in our food security program and may want suggestions about how to cook their food; therefore,

BIRT the SSD approves a budget of up to $5000 for the Spring 2024 Semester’s Hybrid Cooking Class, including Dan’s remuneration (prep-time, cooking time, clean up included), cooking supplies, and any other sundry items.

Edit: (Marissa) to clarify, we need equipment that would not be included within the Good Food Box.

We’re still waiting on confirmation from the venue.

We’re thinking of ten people in person – a number that can be reasonably accommodated by Dan, including volunteers from the Health Food Bar (Mario, chef de partie).

This will be hybrid, in person and online.

The cooking program isn’t a requirement and we don’t have the budget to send *all* necessary supplies to recipients of the Good Food Box but we’re happy to provide ideas and education.

(Adrean) We can do grocery reimbursement for folks who aren’t accessing the GFB.
