TERRITORY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Chair offers acknowledgement, “We acknowledge with respect the Lekwungen peoples on whose traditional territory the university stands and the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.”

Council Reports – motion approved to skip reports today (Julia, Natasha)

BUSINESS

Motion 06/06/2022 -1- (BROWN/DENLEY) 

WHEREAS the SSD creates an array of accessible programming for our community, and
WHEREAS the SSD Office Coordinator has/will be organizing and coordinating Campus Community Strolls (Campus Stroll) and will provide snacks and drinks as outlined in this policy Campus Stroll 2022,Therefore;
BIRT the SSD approve the Campus Stroll as outlined in the above policy;
BIFRT the SSD approve the 2022/23 Budget of 300$ per semester for a community stroll as pre-checked by our Treasurer, Hannah Brown.

Motion 06/06/2022 -2- (BROWN/DENLEY) 

WHEREAS the SSD strives to promote food security for our community, and
WHEREAS the SSD, via the treasurer, have pre-checked budgetary expectations; and
WHEREAS the SSD have been providing food security programming in past semesters and interruption(even in summer semesters) could risk folks food security: and
WHEREAS the SSD has updated Covid-19 Food Support Program for the May-August Semester as outlined in the policy here:Covid-19 Food Support Program Summer 2022 – Updated.docx; Therefore;
BIRT the SSD approve the updated Covid-19 Food Support Program for the May-August Semester (Summer).
BIFRT the SSD is only offering reimbursement for this program period, $150 for individual students and up to $250 for students with dependents per semester.
BIFRT The last day to register for this program online is Monday August 8th 2022.  Grocery Reimbursement Program itemized receipts and cheque requisition must be received no later than Monday August 15th 2022 in order to be processed.

Motion 06/06/2022 -3- (DENLEY) 

WHEREAS the SSD has a UVSS Rep and they attend ARC, and
WHEREAS the UVSS Rep position for the SSD is currently Julia Denley who would like support in the form of an alternate or for someone to step in. Therefore;
BIRT the SSD approve an alternate or elect someone else for the remainder of the summer semester or until our SGM whichever comes first.

Julia Denley used her mover’s privilege to move this from the table. 

Motion 06/06/2022 -4- (JACOBS) 

WHEREAS the SSD signing authorities are Julia Denley, Delicia Jacobs, Hannah Brown, Faye Lee, and Sophia Papp, and
WHEREAS the SSD has a new office coordinator and Sophia Papp has left. Therefore;
BIRT the SSD approve the removal of Sophia Papp as a SSD signing authority.
BIFRT the SSD approve the addition of Adrean Meuser, our new Office Coordinator, as a signing authority.

Motion 06/06/2022 -5- (JACOBS) 

WHEREAS the SSD supports campus community advocacy and our fellow advocacy groups; and
WHEREAS the SSD does not support the disgusting transphobia and transantagonism we have been witnessing on campus lately; therefore,
BIRT provide 500$ to PRIDE for the trans pins.
