Code of Conduct


  • Acknowledge that the university resides on stolen Coast Salish Territory, cared for by the Lekwungen-speaking, Songhees, and Esquimalt peoples
  • Treat others with respect, kindness, and dignity 
  • Respect others’ perspectives, experiences, and personal space
  • Please clean up after yourself and help others
  • Understand that we all have our own needs and something to offer


  • Please do not enter the space if you have any viral or contagious illness symptoms or have been told to self isolate
  • Please wear a mask 
  • SSD will provide cleaning supplies and assist with sanitizing 


  • Communicate and collaborate with patience
  • Use anti-oppressive and respectful language
  • Make space for kind mistakes and questions
  • Adhere to the UVSS Safer Spaces Policy   →


  • It is the responsibility of community members to use SSD space in an ethical and anti-oppressive way


  • Disabled students registered at UVic have priority for computer use and printing, unless not needed for academic purposes
  • It is your responsibility to return SSD items, books, or furniture to their appropriate places
  • Please be mindful when taking food, snacks, or resources from the SSD so there’s enough for everybody. If you need more than we have to offer, please feel free to ask a staff member about additional food security options
