Accesible Cooking Classes at SSD
Cooking Class Program: Building Life Skills Together
Program Summary
In the Spring 2024 semester, SSD partnered with Dan from the Health Food Bar to start an accessible cooking program! The program consisted of six lessons building in skill level where participants learned everything from basic knife skills to making more complex dishes. This program occurred bi-weekly, with participants joining either in-person at the Fairfield Gonzales Community Association or online via Zoom. The SSD recorded five of six sessions, with the last unrecorded session being a community dinner rather than a lesson. You can find all five of our Accessible Cooking Classes below, along with the recipes for each dish and a summary of the lesson.
At the Society of Students with a Disability (SSD), we believe in fostering independence and community through practical life skills. Our Cooking Class Program is designed to empower students by teaching them how to create nutritious, budget-friendly, and delicious meals.
