DISCUSSION
Discussion Point 2022/01/21: 01 – Julia
WRAP update – 1 info session on Jan 31st, looking for participants to fill ½ the spots, run ads and ask profs to attend.
Discussion Point 2022/01/21: 02 – Julia & Delicia
Council member engagement and training – looking for info on what can help others to be more engaged with certain activities or whether people are interested running for Council position, looking for less of a division between staff knowledge and Council knowledge. Blog posts opportunity for Council members to engage with, social media post creation also a possibility for Council/volunteers to contribute.
Council training following upcoming AGM in Feb being worked on by Julia and Sophie
Discussion Point 2022/01/21: 03 – Julia & Delicia
Annual General Meeting – Feb 4th from 4-6pm PST. Hoping to alter by-laws to implement slight changes, including training.
Co-chairs to be written formally into the SSD by-laws, in addition to HR or management-type workshops for chairperson/s.
Concerns were raised around the number of vacant positions if we are creating more positions- looking to improve recruitment and AGM attendance this year compared to the past, so hopefully this won’t be an issue.
Discussion Point 2022/01/21: 04 – Julia & Delicia
Sexualized Violence Prevention Consultation and Review- if anyone is interested in participation in surveys or consultations they can reach out to co-chairs. Julia reported that the last consultation was poorly promoted so trying to get more people to participate in this second round of consultation.
Discussion Point 2022/01/21: 05 – Julia & Delicia
Access4All- Several recent important meetings, including UVic Exec and PS Dan Culter. Kevin Hall said he would help us lobby the provincial government to support the work we are doing. Slow process but still hoping to make progress with this campaign with our advocacy continuing.
Idea to write a blurb on A4A and include the meeting poll to be shared around discords where people have been posting smaller hybrid learning positions.
Thoughts on Programing, Workshops and Special Events
What would you like to see, take, offer or be involved in?
Crafternoon relaunch- Co-chairs working on a formal funding policy that would back up an art program in the near future.
Creating a calendar of events- our events and campus and community events that our community may benefit from.
Hiring for a volunteer/events coordinator or admin position – Delicia & Julia
Staffing – looking to create a new position (volunteer coordinator position), only recently discussed with Charlene so not too much information on that currently.
Proposed creation of a Disability Justice Workshop as an SSD offering – Sophie
Sophie to explain the workshop as she envisions- Sophie has to leave prior to this so summarized by Delicia.
